Feeding the Future

$25,000 goal will provide 20,000 meals to 336 children in Liberia.

You can help provide food for 336 children in Liberia.

Many children in the L.A.C.E.S. program only eat one meal a day. We refuse to ignore such a serious problem so after every game and practice our youth come together and eat a nutritiously infused meal.

We need your help to make this possible.

Feeding the Future

One meal costs $1.25, our goal is to raise $25,000 to provide 20,000 meals.
As meals are donated, our plate will become fuller.
Once all 20,000 meals are provided, we will have a full plate of nutritious Liberian food!
Every dollar counts!

What food means to our youth

Using L.A.C.E.S. as a case study, a group of researchers explored the effects that sports can have on the development of youth and its impact on community harmony. The interviewer questioned our youth about the struggles they faced before joining the program, and this is what they had to share:

Interviewer: Why do you steal sometimes?

Youth: Because I’m hungry. When I see [food], I do steal it.

Interviewer: Who helps you right now?

Youth: Who help me now? L.A.C.E.S. tries to help me. Provide food for me to eat. And comfort me.

Cook’s Highlight

Mamie Johnson has been with the program for over five years and continues to be behind the preparation of the meals given to our youth, preparing 600 meals every week. L.A.C.E.S. is grateful to have such a wonderful and dedicated person in our team.

“I love to feed so many children, especially, I love seeing the children happy because if they eat, they can play.”

Cooking in the Time of Covid

When Liberia adopted lockdown measures, L.A.C.E.S. extended its support system, making sure that no child would have to be concerned about not having food, so they could keep thriving during those uncertain times. L.A.C.E.S. provided the food and the coaches cooked for them, every day.
