Liberia
Child Soldiers, Ebola Orphans and Street Children

L.A.C.E.S. began its mission in Liberia in 2007, when our founder Seren Fryatt recognized the need to provide a path of restoration for children affected by conflict and believed that sports could be that avenue. Thirteen years later, with 3,000 children served, we have helped children reclaim the childhood that was taken from them, reintegrated Ebola Orphans back into their community, and provided a safe space for street children to grow as leaders, thrive in life, and become part of a supportive family.

Washington, D.C.
Refugee Youth

In 2016, L.A.C.E.S. starting serving recently resettled refugee youth in the greater Washington D.C. area. Since the launch of the program, we have served 400 youth from 20 different countries who have found a place on the soccer field after years of displacement. Engaging with L.A.C.E.S. has helped children improve their English language skills, build friendships with those from other cultures and experience other exciting opportunities like watching the USWNT play.

New Communities
More Impact

We launched a L.A.C.E.S. program in Buchannan in 2022 and we can’t wait to continue to expand our reach. Research shows our mentorship based curriculum increases a child’s self-esteem, decreases their attitude towards violence and helps them understand more of their purpose. We want to share our model and learnings and partner with organizations on how to leverage the power of sport to mentor youth.
