We believe that locals know the best way to address the social issues that our children face. Through ongoing training, we empower locals to create change, mentor others and build the future leaders of this world through sports.
Meet our staff, the fantastic people who make up Team L.A.C.E.S.
The leadership of the community identifies the most vulnerable children they believe are in need of positive role models to bring about transformation in their lives. The coaches must live in the communities where we operate because they know first hand the social issues their communities face and can be involved in a child’s life outside of their time in L.A.C.E.S. This engagement has resulted in families fostering children who live on the street, schools providing scholarships to children in the program who cannot afford to attend and trust that creates a platform to address social issues such as Ebola, that the whole community faces. Read about our work in kicking Ebola out of Liberia.
A holistic approach requires moving beyond sports and meeting a child’s needs in his/her daily life. Our coaches meet with the children’s parents individually two times per month. During these visits, coaches and parents discuss ways that we can partner together to make the greatest impact and holistically develop the child’s life skills.
