Refugee Youth Soccer Camp

This summer L.A.C.E.S. will be hosting a Refugee Youth Soccer Camp in the greater Washington D.C. area. This is a fun opportunity for children from all nations  and languages to unite over the common language of soccer.  We will be providing a soccer camp that is fun, interactive, challenging and meaningful for refugee youth ages 9-14.

Attend

To participate in the Refugee Youth Soccer Camp your child must be:

  • Age 9-14
  • Refugee (boys and girls are welcome to participate)
What you can expect:

Experienced coaches will teach and improve your child’s soccer skills. The camp will build your child’s self-esteem and teach them how to speak the language of soccer.

  • Your child will receive a ball, water bottle and t-shirt on the first day of camp!
  • Breakfast, snack and lunch every day.
  • Safe playing environment.
  • If needed: Transportation will be provided at designated pick-up points.
  • All other participants must be able to provide own transportation.
How to Register:

Download the registration form, fill it out completely and then mail it in along with the $10 registration fee per child payable to L.A.C.E.S. by check or cash by June 15, 2019.

*Please note if you have more than one child participating in the camp the registration fee is $10 for the first child and for any additional child it is $5 per child.

Volunteer

To make this camp successful we need 20 volunteers to do various tasks. If you are available all week or for just a few hours a day we need you!

What you can expect:

Volunteers might be asked to do the following things.

  • Register participants on the first day.
  • Ensure campers safety to and from the pick-up and drop-off locations.
  • Make sure breakfast and snacks are served.
  • Pack lunches for participants to take home.
  • Make sure water is always available.
  • Medical personnel needed.

Coach

To provide a fun, challenging and meaningful summer camp we need coaches who are excited to help refugees feel welcomed through the avenue of soccer.

What you can expect:

Coaches will be responsible for the following things.

  • You will have the opportunity to coach 9 – 14-year-olds recently resettled refugees from over 7 different nations.
  • Arrive for set-up at 8:30 am each day.
  • Coach 9:00 am – noon.
  • 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm: Lunch and prep work for next day’s activities.
  • One head coach and one assistant coach will work with 10 children.
Coaching Experience

Head Coach:
Previous Coaching Experience, knowledge of the game and ability to demonstrate soccer skills.

Assistant Coach:
Has experience playing soccer and knowledge of the game.
